Trinitarian Panentheism

Exaltism is the belief system of Ethan Tyler Reilly. It is a subset of Earthseed. While Ethan adheres to the three tenets of Earthseed he also adds to it. In Exaltism God is synonymous with reality, however, there are two main divisions of what makes something divine. God is a figurehead of ultimate reality, which is expressed by the word Omniverse, and its central forces, which are Substance, Entropy and Extropy. It is a variant of trinitarian panentheism, combining panendeism, process theology and syntheism.

Entropy, loosely defined as chaos, is the idea that everything in the Universe, and other natures, is breaking down and separating. If humans didn't exist, this would result in eventually the heat death of the Universe. Exaltists believe that Entropy is essentially how the Universe processes change, and how Exaltists understand panendeism, process philosophy and theology. The five key divine components of this is Totality, Essentiality, Eternity, Ubiquity and Potency. According to Exaltists all of nature possesses these qualities, which makes it divine. In Exaltism this is known as passive divinity.

Extropy, on the other hand, is order, and is the idea that when humans, or other intelligent life, intervenes in order, a cosmic intelligence will prevent the heat death of the Universe and instead the Omega Point of Teilhard's philosophy will be realized. Extropy is mainly controlled by intelligent life, and on Earth, is anthropomorphic. This is explained by syntheism, or, the theology that believes that humans are in essence creating the divine. The divine essence of Extropy can be broken into five parts, which is Utility, Generosity, Sagacity, Sovereignty, and Unity. In Exaltism humans are the primary force of these divine qualities. In Exaltism this is known as active divinity.

Exaltists believe that all life and matter in the Universe are avatars of a transcendental force inside the local multiverse that ultimately created the Universe and many others like it. The beginning of time was panendeistic in nature, but with human intelligence became [syn]theistic, and that it is the ultimate goal of humanity to become transcendental beings that will establish an Internet for The Omniverse, transforming it to the OmniNet. The OmniNet will help transcendental post-humans create and develop their own Universes with unique properties, similarly to what humans already do now in the digital realm. It will also allow humans to teleport between different Universes. The OmniNet will usher in the age of an intelligent energy capable of shaping and creating any reality that is so desired.

Thus, reality will be shaped from its panendeistic roots to its current syntheism to eventually become polydeistic, with extropy overtaking the force of entropy and massive amounts of energy and intelligence being infused in small pockets of the Universe that will determine its fate, similarly to how humans already decide the fate of Earth. From panendeism to polydeism, Exaltists exist to exalt and grow the divinity of themselves and the rest of the human species. Exaltists live to make the humans that so desire it into deities.

Ethics in Exaltism are defined as such. Functionality is the highest virtue to be had, which includes the ability to do things for oneself and others and allows humans to feel emotions such as love and companionship. The ability to function is in fact what allows humans to deify themselves one day. While functionality is objectively important, what humans do in accordance to those functions and find significant about what they're able to do is subjectively important to each individual. Therefore, while it is objectively important to know what and how much functionality someone has, what they do to benefit themselves from those abilities remains unique to that individual. However, it is important in Exaltism to recognize the divinity all things possess, and to not infringe on the abilities of others and oneself. Infringing on ability, including oneself, causes victimhood and is considered a wrongful action, including lost potential.

The human species will undergo speciation in the not too distant future and it will be up to all individuals to decide what and how much they want to be able to do, and ultimately there will be humans that decide not to continue the current path. The ability to choose what and how much functionality one desires to have will become a paramount topic and allowing people to live exactly how they want to live, as long as it doesn't infringe on the divinity of other beings, is crucial in understanding the ethics of Exaltism. Exaltists will never force anyone to undergo speciation, even by not doing so it limits their ability and prevents them from becoming a deity. Exaltists affirm the right of individuality so long it doesn't prevent other individuals from achieving their own divine nature.

With that being said, it must be noted that in order to be an Exaltist, one must accept their divine attributes and potential and accept speciation and other changes to become a deity. This is because in order for The OmniNet to be created, there must be a group of post-humans that create this. It is not a requirement for Exaltists to design and produce The OmniNet unless they are part of the leadership of the religion. However, it is expected that once The OmniNet reaches a certain stage that many, if not most, humans and post-humans alike will most likely use it. Affirming the necessity of a spacefaring society many Exaltists will take leadership positions in the Earthseed movement.

This restriction of Exaltists only applies before the creation of the OmniNet. After the creation of the OmniNet it is theorized that all humans will become a stream of consciousness that can change their divine essence at will. Thus, all humans will be and become deities at that point, and their evolutionary path will be guided by their own desire to utilize the most of this technology. It may even be possible that at this point some animals may gain intelligent consciousness and develop their own lineage that will allow them to do something similar. Accessing the OmniNet all things we can only imagine one day will come to fruition, thus establishing a future polydeistic society which massive amounts of extropy is used to create and teleport between different Universes.

The afterlife in Exaltism is seen through three major steps of development between the self and the environment. These steps are (1) Resurrection, (2) Correction and last but not least (3) Liberation. Always and exactly in that order. Since information cannot be destroyed, resurrection will allow oneself to come back physically and to retain all the memories anyone developed throughout someone's lifetime, even if they had forgotten them later in life. Correction is the step where all people will see everything they did right and wrong in their lifetimes, and will correct people by changing how they fundamentally think, allowing them to adjust to the new future. Correction will also allow that person to also correct other people's actions by allowing others to see their own mistakes. Correction as well will include a massive information input by all humans, allowing everybody who got resurrected to know everything people know at that point. And lastly, the most important part, liberation, which will allow anyone to choose any after life they could ever imagine for themselves, as long as said afterlife doesn't produce victims. Because the process of correction already happened at that stage, it will prevent that outcome. Resurrection will not happen for a long time, and in that period there will be nothing but oblivion, but after resurrection and correction there will be a much longer period of liberation afterwards.

Modern Exaltist understanding believes in a specific type of monolatry. As already stated, there is a belief is that there is one God, The Omniverse, that is worthy to be shaped and worshipped. Humans are deities that do not need worshipped, but to be enhanced with greater functioning. As such, The Omniverse is the panentheistic God that is composed of substance, entropy and extropy, and humans are unique in the strength of their extropic qualities, which they are exalted into deification in Exaltism. Many theologies are expressed in a way to convey and understand Exaltism, but this particular way of understanding monolatry combines all theologies that Exaltists believe in.

Exaltist Ethan's understanding of this is changing, growing and evolving to incorporate more elements into this, and this page will be updated to meet his understanding.
